Arm candy of the week: The Celine 16 bag
From dropping the accent from its name to his debut collection (that's been met with mixed reviews), Hedi Slimane has been making waves since he joined Celine. Following its SS19 show during Paris Fashion Week, the brand has now released a series of new bags, and we're pretty sure it'll strike a more positive chord with the (old and new) Celine fans. The highlight of the lot is the 16 handbag that was spotted on the arms of Lady Gaga in August ahead of the SS19 show. Named after the location of the brand's headquarters and atelier in a 17th-century mansion at 16 Rue Vivienne, the structured piece is an ode to the French fashion house's bags, featuring '60s-inspired details such as a cropped flap and a rounder silhouette.
"The 16 handbag is the ultimate symbol of Hedi Slimane's vision for Celine: it emphasises our knowledge of incredible craftsmanship. Hedi pushed our team and asked them to deliver their best: despite drawing the 16 on the day of his arrival, it took our team more than six months to achieve the final version, meticulously developing each detail and testing the most luxurious skins to find the perfect leather," the CEO of Celine, Séverine Merle mentioned in an interview.
The Celine 16 bag will be available in three sizes and a range of colours.
