This singer just upstaged Beyoncé and Taylor Swift as the highest paid woman in music

Take a bow Tay Tay and Bee, there’s a new queen in town. Forbes in its annual ranking has named Katy Perry as the highest paid woman in music of 2018. She is estimated to have earned $83 million between June 2017 and July 2018 as Beyoncé concedes her title of the highest paid female performer and falls to third place while Taylor Swift takes the second place.

Katy Perry’s main share of the pie comes not from the sale of her fifth album, Witness, but rather her world tour for the same album, which grossed more than $1 million per night. FYI, she had 80 dates on the global tour! On top of that, she also took home more than $20 million for her judging stint on American Idol.

Officially her ranking rose from ninth place in 2017 to first this year. Data are sourced from Nielsen, insider interviews and Forbes’ own estimation. Now if we’re to guess, Swift’s current Reputation world tour will propel her up the 2019 rankings.

Below the full list of this year’s highest-earning female artists:

1.     Katy Perry ($83 million)

2.     Taylor Swift ($80 million)

3.     Beyoncé ($60 million)

4.     Pink ($52 million)
