Sundance Channel invites budding filmmakers for the 2015 Sundance Channel Short Film Contest

With a nod to the countless gems that have been uncovered from the world of independent films, Sundance Channel and Astro are inviting aspiring Malaysian filmmakers to submit entries to the 2015 Sundance Channel Short Film Contest. A chance for independent voices to be heard on an international platform as they explore the theme, ‘Malaysia: Inspiration.”

Entries will be selected based on creativity, entertainment value, original storytelling and production value. The panel of judges comprise representatives from Sundance Channel, Astro and the filmmaking community, such as executive vice president for AMC Global and Sundance Channel Global Harold Gronenthal, Lina Tan of redfilms, and CEO and co-founder of Apparat Nandita Solomon.

“Sundance Channel is a strong advocate for the development of independent cinema around the world, and this short film contest is a great example of how we’re nurturing the growth of this exciting industry in Malaysia,” said Geraud Alazard, vice president of maketing, AMC Networks International. “Astro has been a terrific partner for us to showcase the tremendous creativity coming from new Malaysian filmmakers, and we are looking forward to seeing all of this year’s entries.”

Films of the top three finalists will feature on Sundance Channel HD (CH438) in 2016, and will be screened at an exclusive event in Kuala Lumpur on 11th December. The Grand Prize winner will receive a cash prize of RM1000 and a trip to the iconic 2016 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, while the two runners up will receive professional digital cameras. Filmmakers can submit their short films here by 23rd November.
