Now at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum: ‘Across Art and Fashion’
When two worlds meet
An exhibition organised by Fondazione Ferragamo and Salvatore Ferragamo Museum, 'Across Art and Fashion' explores the complex relationship between art and fashion, two very closely intertwined disciplines. It draws on the life story of the Italian maison's founder—during his lifetime, Salvatore Ferragamo, known for his creative and innovative approach to shoe design, was intrigued by the 20th century avant-garde art movement, which led him to seek inspiration in the world or art, collaborating with many artists of his time.
'Across Art and Fashion' presents the ways in which the two worlds interact, overlap and collaborate. Take a fascinating walk through history at the museum—from Futurists and Surrealist works of the early 20th century to the birth of celebrity culture, as well as the artistic experimentation of the '90s. Curated by Maria Luisa Frisa, Enrica Morini, Stefania Ricci and Alberto Salvadori, this project features a comprehensive collection of clothing, accessories, fabrics, works of art, books and photographs from international and Italian private and public museum collections. You'll be able to admire a Salvatore Ferragamo pump inspired by the work of American artist Kenneth Noland in the '50s, a dress design by Elsa Schiaparelli in the '30s in collaboration with Salvadore Dalì, and an installation of photographs of Andy Warhol called 'Altered Images' amongst a plethora of exquisite works of art.

'Across Art and Fashion' will run from 19 May 2016 to 7 April 2017 at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum (Museo Salvatore Ferragamo), Florence.
