Brad Pitt to co-star with Leonardo DiCaprio in new Tarantino film

After cutting ties with The Weinstein Company (which just announced its bankruptcy), Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film has been picked up by Sony Pictures, and it is falling into place quite nicely. Tarantino now has a title—Once Upon A Time In Hollywood—and two confirmed A-listers on the cast.

According to Tarantino, the film is “a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor… Sharon Tate.”

In case you were still in the dark about it, yes the film is about the infamous Manson family murders. Charles Manson will be looming in the movie, but he will not be its focus. Other names that were in talks to be in the project include Margot Robbie, whom Tarantino asked to play Tate, as well as Tom Cruise (we’re hoping this will actually happen), Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Lawrence and Al Pacino.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is set for a 9 August 2019 release.
