Street artists set to take over the galleries in ArtScience Museum
The ‘Art from the Streets’ exhibition will give you a fascinating insight into the world of street art

In a Southeast Asian first, some of the world's most renowned street artists will soon be showcasing their works under one roof. 'Art from the Streets'—set to open on 13 January 2018 at the ArtScience Museum in Singapore—celebrates the 40 years of the street art movement, marking its rise from illegal drawing on walls to socially and culturally accepted contemporary art.

Curated by gallerist Magda Danysz, 'Art from the Streets' will put the spotlight on the likes of Banksy, JR, Shepard Fairey (Obey), Invader and Invader, amongst other notable international names, as well as local and regional street artists. Besides retrospective insight, nearly a dozen artists will also be creating a series of live paintings and installations on-site especially for the show. Felipe Pantone is one of them, a relatively new street art sensation from Spain who has caught the public eye with his distinctively vivid and geometric-patterned work.

"ArtScience Museum is thrilled to be presenting some of the biggest names in Street Art in this daring and provocative new show," says Honor Harger, Executive Director of ArtScience Museum. "What started out as acts of rebellion on the streets of US cities in the 1970s, has since expanded into a major international cultural movement. Our visitors will see how artists have restyled the look and feel of cities around the world, through captivating, thought-provoking works that range from small interventions, to massive murals. This is an exhibition that celebrates the energy and dynamism of the streets, by encouraging some of the most exciting artists in the field to transform our galleries into living urban artworks."

'Art from the Streets' will run from 13 Janurary to 3 June 2018 at the ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sands.
