Would you try Shiseido Professional’s androgynous “Cross Border” trend?

Genderbending themes have never transcended fashion and beauty as much as they have now at this point in time (and history). Whether cropped hairdos that women are rocking (think Ruby Rose) or even the “manbun” or man-braids spotted on the runways and in reality, strict gender-specific stereotypes in this industry are dwindling, making trends more fluid and interchangeable.

Shiseido Professional’s AW15-16 hair and makeup trends are echoing that sentiment. For the ladies, looking effortless is key here, with plenty of attention paid to how a hair is intentionally tousled and/or accented with bangs. The androgynous touch comes to play, thanks to jarring hair cut lines, colours and textures. Makeup-wise, the “natural canvas” look is still trending, with healthy thick brows and bright, bold eyeliner. This is counteracted with matte pale pinks and rosy beige lip colours. When it comes to men, medium to long hair lengths and bangs are styled in natural, unruly waves, adding a touch of femininity. But the intentional, imperfect finish of the hair—a tighter shape with a dab of oil yet looking purposefully “dry”—alludes to hints of masculinity.
