There is no such thing as a “natural” retinoid alternative—why the bakuchiol craze is the epitome of deceptive marketing
If you’re a skincare nut, you’ve definitely heard of retinoids and all their purported wonders—and for good reason. It’s a powerful anti-ageing the newest ingredient on the block—bakuchiol.
Put simply, bakuchiol is not an alternative to retinol as it works on a different receptor to retinol, and is thus a completely different molecule. It does have a similar effect to retinol, but it ultimately not the same thing.
