Bestowed with an abundance of natural beauty, dramatic landscapes as well as rich culture and history, Croatia cements its place in our travel bucket list for all the right reasons:

1. The coastline

Known for its stunning island-speckled coastline, Croatia is truly a summertime gem. White sandy beaches, sparkling turquoise waters and pebbled coves draw travellers to the coastal towns with their perennial beauty. The picture-perfect cities of Dubrovnik and Split are just two amongst the many quaint and lively coastal towns to visit.

2. The sailing

With waters as brilliant as this, you will find it hard to keep away from the seas. Thus, it comes as no surprise that sailing is a favourite pastime for both locals and summer holidaymakers. It is also one of the best ways to discover Croatia and its beautiful islands.

3. The nature

Croatia is certainly blessed when it comes to the outdoors. Sparkling blue waters and pretty coastline aside, it bears mountainous landscapes and valleys, and is also home to one of the world’s most beautiful national parks—the Plitvice Lakes National Park. This UNESCO Natural Heritage Site is displays extraordinary natural beauty with its exceptionally beautiful lakes, thriving greenery and cascading waterfalls.

4. The food

Two main culinary cultures dominate Croatia: classic Mediterranean cuisine where seafood reigns, and Italian flavours with a new world twist. You will also find Central European influences with hearty meat dishes and plenty of good wine—a truly wholesome treat for the palate.

5. The history

History can hardly be boring when it is accompanied by fantastic archictectural wonders. Visit the fascinating historical sites that range from well-preserved Roman ruins in Split and Pula, to Dubrovnik’s walled old city, also known as the King’s Landing of epic fantasy series Game of Thrones fame.
