Now you can upload longer videos on Instagram

Instagram must have had a lot of New Year’s resolutions with all the updates and announcements of upcoming updates since 2016 began. The most celebrated one so far being the account switching function where you no longer need to log in and out—and back in and out againwhile the most despaired one is the recent announcement that Instagram will soon be changing its algorithms. Luckily, the latest piece of news they have is less upsetting: up to 60 seconds of video can now be uploaded on Instagram.

Perhaps they’re feeling a little competition from Snapchat, especially since you can do so many cool things on that app. But most likely and in general, the world is loving videos more. In their announcement post, Instagram mentioned that the time people spent watching video have increased by more than 40 per cent in the last six months.

Whether you prefer the 15-second limit or not, it’s nice to have the option. The longer video update begins rolling out today and will be available to everyone in the coming months. In another piece of related good news, iOS users can now make videos out of multiple clips from your camera roll and is available this week when you update the app.
