Bella Kuan stars in Cathay Pacific’s ‘The Sounds of Travelling Well’ campaign

We often talk about the sights we encounter on our travels. Even an Instagram photo is still a visual form. Cathay Pacific Airways’ new campaign challenges people to discover travelling from a different perspective: Sound.

Because it’s true—visiting a foreign and new place evokes all our senses that help create a memory. The familiar pre-announcement chimes of KLIA. The sound of luggages being wheeled with its owners in a rush to the gate. The noise an airplane makes as it takes off.

The campaign aptly titled ‘The Sounds of Travelling Well’ features Bella Kuan travelling to Hong Kong and Japan, and with her, a soundman with his furry boom mic. But it’s not just another visual travel diary. The soundtrack of the video is completely put together by the sounds recorded on her trip—the beeps made by a changing traffic light in Hong Kong, the crisp chop of a bamboo from a ceremony in Kyoto, everything.

Fun fact: The catchy ‘song’ is made by Fuse Asia, the same people who created Ikea’s “Get Cheras To Cheras” jingle. Watch the video below for an instant spike of wanderlust.
