7 Things you can do this weekend: 14 – 15 May 2016

1. The Mercedes-Benz Urban Hunting Art and Music Festival at KLPAC, 10am – 6pm, 14th – 15th May

Celebrate the ultimate fusion of art and music inspired by the new generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class with a series of exciting activities ranging from art and craft workshops (for children, though) to Malaysian short film screenings to live performances by local rising musicians to tantalising feasts offered by food trucks. The highlight, however, is something more Instagram-worthy as street artists Orkibal, Donald Abraham, Fritilldea and Fauzan Fuad—also known as the Foursome KL—have given the new generation A-Class a splash of their perspectives of “Urban Hunting”. Besides being there to present the funky, swanky #MYUrbanHunting art cars at the exhibit space, the artists will also hold a live demonstration and an art jam session for the public.

For more information, visit their Facebook.

2. Lup Chew screening at Uppercase Bangsar, 7.30pm, 14th May

There’s only one thing that you need to attend the screening: You have to be a fan of Yasmin and her works. The event is organised by the Yasmin at Kong Heng museum and the fun folks who worked closely with Yasmin will be there to answer any questions or even just to have a good chat but any other information about the screening is unknown except that it’ll be a big (and, most likely, good) surprise. Entry is based on a first-come-first-serve basis and you’re free to bring your own mat, pillow or bean bag as the space is limited to 300 people sitting on the floor.

The entrance fee is a minimum contribution of RM5 per person for the museum maintenance. For more information, visit their event page

3. Oysters x Craft Beer pairing session at Taps Beer Bar, Mont Kiara, 12pm – 5pm, 15th May

Taps Beer Bar and Southern Rock Seafood are collaborating to bring you an alternative pairing experience—oysters and craft beers. Entice your palate with six pairing combinations and an option to spice it up with two dipping sauces while brushing up your knowledge with the on-hand experts of both stars of the day.

For more information, visit their event page

4. Bonjour France—A Taste of France food and wine fair at Publika, 10am – 10pm, 13 – 15 May

A French Marché (French Market) serving an array of food and wine tasting opportunities has been set up at The Boulevard in Publika as part of the Le French Festival 2016. From wine to cheese to pastries, visitors will surely be spoilt for choice and maybe even bring some home.

For more information, visit their Facebook.

5. Markets18 at The School, Jaya One, 11am – 7pm, 14 – 15 May

It’s back and bigger than ever! Besides lots of shopping to be done, there will also be contests (ice cream eating competition, anyone?), live performances, food stalls and food trucks. Oh, and did you know they’re pet-friendly too?
