Smashing pair

Buro vs SEA Games 2017 athletes Soon Huat-Shevon in a mini game of badminton
Watch as we challenge Malaysian badminton mixed doubles players Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai to a mini game (with a twist)

A fairly fresh partnership—they played their first tournament as a pair in November 2016—yet Soon Huat-Shevon have quickly rose up the ranks, claiming both the Scottish Open and Malaysia International titles in the same month. At the moment, they stand in the 17th position of the Badminton World Federation's mixed double rankings.

Goh Soon Huat is the more experienced player of the pair, having made his international debut in 2009 as a singles player. Shevon Lai Jemie, on the other hand, is the more seasoned mixed doubles player, having played in the category ever since she made the national team in 2011. This partnership with Shevon is Soon Huat's first foray into mixed doubles, and while it wasn't easy transitioning from singles to doubles—it looks like he has found his calling in the latter. With this partnership, both players are looking at their best run and ranking in their respective sporting careers.
