Out and about: New bars to check out around town

PS150

Fresh on the scene—it just opened its doors on Christmas Eve—PS150 is Chinatown’s first cocktail bar. Expect to be in for a treat in this rustic charmer of a bar, as the mixologist in the house is none other than the champion of La Maison Cointreau 2014, Angel Ng. If her Bloody Mary recipe is anything to go by, we’ll be making our way downtown real soon.

PS150 is located at 150, Jalan Petaling, 50000 Kuala Lumpur.

IKKI

Taking pride in crafted cocktails and artisanal whiskeys, IKKI serves up delectable tapas and bar food too. From the décor to its cocktails, this bar exudes sheer sophistication: wind down with the Ayumi Autumn, a fruity and refreshing sake cocktail; or welcome the weekend with Haters Gonna Haig, a pleasurable mix of Haig Club, Campari, salted caramel syrup, fresh pineapple and lime.

IKKI is located at Unit E-1-08, First Floor, TREC, No. 438 Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.

Ojos Bar

“Hidden” behind heavy sliding doors in Jaya One, Ojos is a speakeasy-inspired bar founded by Taiwanese expatriate Cindy, serving delicious cocktails crafted to perfection. A fusion flair is distinct in this elegant establishment. Sip on Summer Tea on a hot, humid evening—a refreshing blend of Kettle One Vodka, Earl Grey tea, apple and rose syrup, lime and cucumber.

Ojos Bar is located at H-99-G Jaya One, Jalan University, 46200 Petaling Jaya.

The Forking Cork

Unlike the others on the list, The Forking Cork is a wine and whisky bar with a difference—it doubles as a meeting point for the entrepreneurial-minded network, with casual, easygoing vibes that encourages communication and the exchange of ideas. Patrons can connect over the exquisite selection of wine and whisky at the large communal table while enjoying a bite or two from the kitchen which just started operations not long ago. Any way you go about it, rest assured you’ll be in for a good time.

The Forking Cork is located at 49, Jalan Hujan, Taman Overseas Union, 58200 Kuala Lumpur.
