#BuroEats: 5 New places to visit in KL for January 2018

1. Dew

From the same lady behind Jaslyn’s Cakes comes a patisserie—which doubles as part “florist and sometimes speakeasy” as well—that will spoil your sweet tooth silly. The desserts look as divine as the space but if you have to pick one, we recommend the Kopiko Tart.

Address: 7, Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 11am-7pm (Tues-Fri); 11am-8pm (weekends); closed on Mon

Phone number: 03 2280 0868

2. Podgy Kurau

podgy kurau

Podgy has moved into the dominant cafe hotspot that is Bangsar, specifically in the breezy, quiet Kurau neighbourhood. Flaunting 10/10 interior aesthetics (hexagonal tiles, tropical vibes and muted colours), the cafe serves all-day breakfast, mains, desserts and your favourite coffee.

Address: 5, Lorong Kurau, Lucky Garden, 59100 Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 9am-10pm (closed on Tues)

3. Mechanic Cafe

If you adore cafes with a minimalistic interior, add this to your list of #cafehopkl spots. The menu here is simple but not without a couple of dishes that will surely satisfy your taste buds. Also, we’ll give them extra brownie points for the lovely tableware.

Address: Jalan Dataran Cheras 8, Dataran Perniagaan Cheras, Balakong, 43200 Cheras

Opening hours: 11am-12am (Fri-Sat); 11am-10pm (Sun-Thurs); closed on Mon

4. Mighty Monster

With an aim to serve Australian-inspired brunch with a dash of Asian influences, Mighty Monster’s efforts surely didn’t go to waste—both in terms of the menu and its interior. They also have a wide selection of dishes for lunch and dinner as well as a sizeable alcohol menu.

Address: G-019 @ MyTown Shopping Center

Opening hours: 10am-1am (Sun-Thurs); 10am-2am (Fri-Sat)

Phone number: 012 2122 486

5. Bakery Cafe Hachi

A healthy Japanese bakery-cafe run by a Japanese baker, the variety of authentic (and preservative-free) Japanese bread and buns here will easily charm you into wanting more. From a mentaiko baguette to a yakisoba-pan (fried noodles in a bun) to the classic melon pan, it’ll be hard to choose just a few. They also have a dine-in menu.

Address: P-07B, Plaza Ground Floor, Plaza Damas (besides Starbucks)

Opening hours: 8am-8pm (daily)
