3 Chinese New Year cocktails you can make at home

If you can easily make your own healthy yee sang at home, you can surely make your own fancy drinks too. We’ve covered Malaysian-inspired cocktail recipes before but now it’s time for some Chinese New Year inspiration to take centerstage and alcohol educators RAD Impressions (who conducts regular cocktail-making workshops like this one) has generously shared three easy recipes you can try at home!

 

Abundant Prosperity

Ingredients

30ml vodka

15ml Rinomato

15ml umeshu (plum wine)

30ml grapefruit tonic

Top Up Tonic

Glassware

Highball

Garnish

Mandarin orange

Method

Build all ingredients in glass with ice.

 

Dusky Daisy

Ingredients

45ml Scotch

15ml pandan cinnamon syrup

20ml oolong tea

20ml chrysanthemum tea

Glassware

Rock glass

Garnish

Chrysanthemum flower

Syrup

200g Chinese palm sugar

100ml water

2 nos pandan leaf

2 nos cinnamon stick

Make a 2:1 syrup with the Chinese palm sugar. Bring to simmer and add in the pandan leaves and cinnamon stick.

Method

Roll all ingredients. Strain into chilled glass.

 

Pick A Date

Ingredients

45ml gin

20ml lemon juice

10ml red date & sour plum syrup

Glassware

Martini/Coupe

Garnish

Dried red dates

Syrup

200g instant red date tea

100ml water

Make a 2:1 syrup with instant red date tea.

Method

Shake all ingredients in a shaker. Strain into a chilled glass.
