Sculptured beauties: Architectural footwear

Architecture isn’t only confined to the impressive skyscrapers that have won awards for fine construction and engineering. When incorporated in fashion, especially footwear, the term “unique” is elevated to a whole new level with bizarrely beautiful blocked heels. You can’t help but to take a second glance at shoes like these, and we love how bold of a statement they make when you pair it with simple separates.

Here are some of our favourite sculptured choices:

Experiencing a winter-white Christmas this year? Stuart Weitzman’s ‘Glove’ boots—made of ultrastretch leather with the brand’s signature Lucite stacked heel with a gold-toned insert—is the edgy touch you need to complete your leather-jacket-and-jeans look.

A modern wedge has never looked this cool—Pierre Hardy’s leather and suede black and gold-tone sandals feature a trompe l’oeil wedged heel that is bewilderingly extraordinary, to say the least.

Glittered yarn and a curved heel make a great combination, case in point: Nicholas Kirkwood’s Maeva pumps—a pretty pair made from sparkling Platino Lurex with a chunky, hovering Swarovski pearl inside the heel.

Miu Miu’s 50s-style patent leather-trimmed sandals is setting our hearts on fire, thanks to its brilliant burgundy hue and satin-and-leather combo. Wear it during Christmas with a flirty full skirt and you’re all set.

A dash of cobalt blue is always welcomed during any festive occasion. Louis Vuitton‘s elegantly contemporary peep-toe suede pump in goat leather is carefully hand-embellished with golden V’s, inspired by the brand’s fashion jewellery.

Mules are all the rage now, and a mule with a sculpted heel like Fendi’s ayers and textured-leather pair is the only on-trend shoe you need for an avant-garde streak (more so when paired with sleek black culottes.)

If you want something that that gives your frame an extra six inches and make a bold statement, Charlotte Olympia’s daring ‘Vreeland’ sandals is made for you. How can one resist this iridescent black seude pair that has a massively chunky heel and a thick platform?

Taipei-based footwear brand Abcense is known for their unordinary shoes, but we especially like their take on oxfords, with this forest green, burnished leather cutout pair that is detailed with their signature “ABS” heel. You can’t go wrong with these, whether you’re in a cute dress or tailored pants.
