The capital of Denmark got its time under the spotlight as Scandinavian sartorialists stepped out in full force for Copenhagen Fashion Week AW17. Braving almost freezing temperatures, showgoers marched onto sets sporting ensembles that spoke the ease of spring while wisely maintaining the snug inclinations of winter dressing.
T’was a masterclass in understated aesthetics. In spite of frostbitten clime, the street style showcased the best of understated Scandinavian sophistication without compromise on swagger and flair. Besides the indisputable nordic eye for design, this cosy-cool factor may well be a mirror of the Danes’ mastery of hygge. Pronounced hue-gah and loosely defined as “the art of creating intimacy, hygge is basically the warm and fuzzy feeling of holding a mug of hot cocoa while snuggled under covers by a fireplace on a cold winters’ night.
Almost every outfit that made our list (save a good lineup of killer footwear—possibly a necessity when the rest of your outfit looks like fashionable lounge wear) was an amalgamation of sensible pieces, layered to perfection. Below, an album of looks to study to ace that coveted Scandi-swag:
