Paris Fashion Week AW17: Strong shoulder game on the streets

The power shoulder has never been this relevant right since its heyday in the ’40s and ’80s. Ever since shoulder pads made it to our trends-to-watch list way back since AW16, we aren’t surprised that it dominated the runways and streets the following season and year respectively. This AW17, the fashion pack (inclusive of style blogger Yoyo Cao, fashion designer Vika Gazinskaya, fashion director Rachael Wang and more) have been taking on ultra boxy shoulder silhouettes on their outerwear and blazers. From squarish houndstooth blazers and leather coats to denim jackets and tees that have shoulder pad inserts, it is now en vogue to look like you’re sport your mum’s power jackets from the ’80s. A style tip is to layer it with a hoodie beneath for a contemporary, street aesthetic that isn’t too stuffy. Below, all the style inspo that’s proof that this trend is here to stay:
