Carolina Herrera appoints Wes Gordon as the creative director of her namesake brand

After almost four decades with the New York-based fashion house, 79-year-old Carolina Herrera has stepped down as the creative director of her eponymous label and has taken up the role as the Global Brand Ambassador—using her status to expand the brand. American fashion designer Wes Gordon has been appointed to take her place, and he’ll be leading design and artistic direction for the fashion house. While this is a new role for the designer (he used to have his own womenswear brand), he has been Carolina Herrera’s creative consultant for the past year.

“I am thrilled with the evolution of the company over the past 37 years. Our success has been tremendous and a true dream. There is still so much opportunity and I look forward to continuing to represent this House and our projects all around the world. I am so pleased Wes is now part of the Herrera House—he’s the right one for this position to further build on our great momentum.” —Carolina Herrera

Keep a look out for his debut collection during New York Fashion Week this September 2018.
