Breaking: Riccardo Tisci leaves Givenchy after 12 years

After rumours circulated last month that Riccardo Tisci might be leaving his creative director role at Givenchy for Versace, news finally broke that the Italian designer is indeed exiting the French house after 12 years at the creative helm. Tisci recently presented the AW17 menswear collection alongside AW17 couture in Paris, and the brand is reportedly not showing during the upcoming Paris Fashion Week.

According to WWD, the departure has been touted as “mutual and amicable” after his contract has ended on January 31. Tisci is known for his circle of celebrity friends and close relationships to designers of other houses including Kanye West, the Kardashians, Beyoncé, Rihanna and more. Under his 12-year tenure, Givenchy took on an edgier aesthetic that at times, were both gothic yet sensual. He is also recognised for constantly featuring inspirational women as part of Givenchy’s campaigns throughout the years, including Brazilian transgender model Lea T and even fellow designer and close friend, Donatella VersaceWill Tisci really take over the reins at Versace? We can’t wait to find out.
