New York Fashion Week AW16: Highlights of Day 4

After New York Fashion Week AW16 Day 4, it’s safe to say that we want what the girls at Diane Von Furstenberg’s disco-slinging dance party are having. The intimate presentation had all the IT models (Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Lily Aldridge, Jourdan Dunn) decked in a 70s-inspired see-now, buy-now collection—fur collared leather jackets, printed silk pieces, sequin wrap dresses and even pussy-bow details—while dancing along to “We Are Family” with plenty of bubbly and selfies in tow.

Victoria Beckham looked inwardly for inspiration this season, with her own take on corset bodices, reinvented slip dresses (still trending despite the frigid temperatures), knits and plenty of stripes—effectively creating clothes based on her style evolution and what her customers want. Going along with that feminine notion, Jonathan Simkhai AW16 was one part romantic and three parts modern. Cold-shoulder details, tiered ruffles and lace frocks made most of it—one that caught our eye was a winter-worthy knitted dress with a flounce hemline that has been tugging on our heartstrings from the start.

Prabal Gurung also made full use of knits and furs, but it was the risqué details that made this collection stood out unabashedly this season: that ocassionally high side slit and a few plunging necklines were sophisticated enough to not look overcooked.
