#KLFW2015 Highlights of Day 2

So far, we’ve seen a few trends that designers have in common on the runways of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2015 day two: black and white separates (Pearly Wong, Kuntum, Nasty Inc); peplum layers at Fizi Woo; and feminine silhouettes of all sorts from fitted colourblocked dresses at Evelyn Chia and Cash and tie-waist everything at Wanpa. But here was what we exceptionally liked:

1. Nothing was quite like Man Chien’s wearable art collection with exaggeratedly wide sleeves, structured silhouettes, and a touch of whimsical. We saw textured dresses and skirts with paintbrushed-like strokes, Chinese calligraphy, and watercoloured images—seemingly akin to going to a museum and seeing the artwork brought to live on a walking mannequin.

2. Alia Bastaman’s pleated dresses, separates and jumpsuits make for a luxurious beach vacation and cocktails in the evening thereafter. Find her signature style in pastel shades from buttercream yellow, lilac and pale pink with flattering silhouettes for all women.

3. Khoon Hooi delved into feathery elements and fall hues of navy blue, black and lamé gold for this collection—drop-waist dresses with a multicolour tier feathered flounce, sheer embroidered separates in bronze and champagne, and maple leaf motifs everywhere.
