The creative director cited personal reasons for his departure after less than two years at Oscar de la Renta
Yet another eventful turnaround in the fashion industry has ensued—Peter Copping has announced that he will step down as Creative Director of Oscar de la Renta, after two years at the helm of the brand's ready-to-wear and bridal collections.
"After almost two years at Oscar de la Renta, personal circumstances require me to return to Europe. I have loved my time in New York where I hope to return at some point in the future," says Copping in a statement.
Personally handpicked as the successor by Mr. De la Renta before his death in 2014, Copping debuted his collection for the brand in February 2015, and is known for having an aesthetic that stayed true to the label's feminine DNA. Before his appointment at Oscar de la Renta, Copping served as artistic director of Nina Ricci for five years, previously working at Louis Vuitton for 12 years under Marc Jacobs. While no successor has been announced just yet, rumoured names include Monse co-founders Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim.
