Launched in August 2016 as the answer to the equally popular app, Snapchat, Instagram Stories has now surpassed its rival with a global audience of 700 million, whereby 250 million users use it daily. And to celebrate its one-year anniversary, Instagram has released a list of top 15 users from the fashion industry with the best engagement, and it comprises of a mixture of big fashion houses, supermodels and fashion influencer. The ranking was based on the total number of views of its top accounts over the past year.

 

Instagram's head of fashion partnerships, Eva Chen, told Business of Fashion that the success of Instagram Stories is thanks to the informal engagement between the accounts and their audience. "What Stories has really meant is that fashion is now able to be a little bit more authentic, a little bit more down to earth, funnier, scrappier."
