Feminine Utility: Tory Burch Cruise 2016

Inspired by the work of Carl Auböck and the American Southwest, Tory Burch crafted an easy, relaxed collection imbued with a sense of effortlessness. The delicate balance between utilitarian and feminine aesthetics found its place in loose-fitted workwear pants paired with embellished tops and the likes. This notion was further punctuated by the strong focus on texture, which spun a repertoire that is rich in detailing and design, balanced with clean, minimalist shapes. From intricate embroidery work and hand-painted feather accents to the unassuming use of fringe on the shoulder straps of bags, the attention to detail is simply exquisite.

The American Southwest inspiration was translated into a palette of earthy tones with a soft, sun-faded quality. Look 25 (in lookbook below) flaunts a simple silhouette with a design reminiscent of a desert sunset, exuding laidback elegance. Meanwhile, kitschy fun prints and motifs—cacti, chilli peppers, armadillos, Kachina dolls, and more—decorated matching top and trousers, swimwear, shoes, and accessories. The tan bucket bag with Kachina doll appliqué is sure to go into many a wishlist upon release.
