Fashion future: H&M Conscious Exclusive SS16

It is common knowledge that in order to move forward, we must first know what has come before us. For H&M Conscious Exclusive’s latest collection, their design team went deep into the archives at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, trawling through three centuries worth of haute couture pieces. “The collection is a layering of references, shapes and textures topped off by intensely decorative pieces and deco-inspired bijoux,” says Anne-Sofie Johansson, Creative Director of H&M. What propels the collection into the now is the breadth of sustainable materials used in its construction: hemp, organic silk, recycled linen, Tencel, beads made from recycled glass and Denimite—a material that looks like blue marble but is made entirely from recycled denim and resin. Well-designed, made with care and thought for the environment and with prices ranging from RM79.90 to RM799, this must surely be the future of fashion.
