Earlier this year, we found out what award-winning actor Robert De Niro’s most memorable moments throughout his 50-year career was, as he exchanged useful anecdotes with young actor McCaul Lombardi as part of Ermenegildo Zegna’s Spring 2017 ad campaign. This season, he returns once again in the second part of the ‘Defining Moments’ campaign, this time in conversation with French choreographer and dancer Benjamin Millepied. Also the founder of LA Dance Project and the Director of Dance at the Paris Opera Ballet, Millepied is most recognised in Hollywood as the choreographer and leading actor of psychological thriller The Black Swan, starring alongside wife Natalie Portman.
Shot in New York City—a location that’s loved by both stars of the campaign—by filmmaker Francesco Carrozzini, the second chapter features De Niro and Millepied decked in plaid suits, luxe knits and utilitarian jackets, while sharing a visceral conversation about artistic expression. Directed by Ermenegildo Zegna’s artistic director Alessandro Sartori, the campaign sees both performers in an intimate dialogue discussing the similarities and differences between their respective trades, alongside exchanging unique defining moments of their lives.
