MFW SS16: Giorgio Armani

Titled “Fil Rouge”, Armani’s collection was built around the colour red. A colour of strong and powerful personality, it was embedded in the collection through shades of flame, lacquer and geranium, softly subsiding into pale tones, or juxtaposed with contrasting hues.

A strong yet feminine, soft tailored look held the collection together. There were plenty of sheers, creating an elegant, ethereal appeal in the form of woven stripes, organza and the likes. The jacket continues to be Armani’s staple, displaying modern glamour in classic boxy silhouettes, shimmery satin, and the crisp, filmy semi-sheer fabric that seemingly dominated the runway.

Accentuated with intricate embroidery and glass bead appliqué, the collection was truly a sight to behold, and an exquisite way to commemorate Giorgio Armani’s 40th year in the industry.
