A subtle feminine shift

MFW SS16: Emporio Armani

Giorgio Armani has always dabbled in the intermeshing of masculine and feminine elements for Emporio Armani, but S/S’16 saw a shift in direction in his inspiration, welcoming a decidedly more feminine aesthetic with “subtle grace” that had modern notions to it.

Case in point: smiley emoticons on cropped tops, sheer organza for movement, coupled with a few floral appliqués here and there, entirely on a palette of faded pink, orange, rust and gray. But there always needs to be a sense of practicality at Emporio Armani, palpable with languid trousers, relaxed blazers, leather-trimmed jackets and a new hybrid form of breeches with calf-length fastenings.

It was girly enough to prove a subtle drift from the original Emporio Armani signature, given that the collection was one part feminine, three parts real-world chic.
