Banana Republic gets inspired by the lush diversity of India for Spring 2017

India; an exotic country that bubbles with rich heritage, from its ancient traditions and culture to the breathtaking landscapes and distinctive cuisine; a land where there is an abundance of of people, sights, sound and smells—and of course, a whole lot of beauty to go with it all.

For Spring 2017, Banana Republic heads to India, visiting the cities of Udaipur, Jaipur, Delhi and Goa—and the inspirations can be seen in the latest collection, where vivid colours, patterns, intricate details and silhouette pay subtle homage to the country. The colour palette is especially beautiful, with shades of rust, coral and soft pink juxtaposed with electric blue and navy.

Each city was reflected in the collection in its own unique ways. For example, the indigo blues of the collection were inspired by a trip to Jaipur, the birthplace of indigo dyeing. Meanwhile, the eclectic, coastal city of Goa translated into natural colourways as well as palm and leaf motif prints. One of the standout looks of the collection is the red and white striped bias-cut dress with an asymmetrical silhouette, a chic modern interpretation of India’s traditional sari dress.
