Head over heels with Chanel’s Boy.Friend

Chanel’s Boy.Friend watch has been a firm favourite of ours since its debut in 2015. Its classically shaped rectangular case (that takes cues from an aerial view of the Place Vendôme) and simple, elegant dial makes it versatile and so easy to love (by both our female and male team members). Chanel’s newest Boy.Friend comes with a tweed motif imprinted into the steel bracelet-perfect for day or night, workdays or the weekend. Here are three reasons why we love it:

1. Tweed is a huge symbol of the house

You’d be hard-pressed not to think of Chanel when you think of tweed. The house has been employing the material for everything from their iconic jackets to weddings dresses, bags, shoes and accessories. In 2002, Chanel acquired the famed embroidery house Lesage, who are known for their innovation and know-how with textiles. What better way to attach your Boy.Friend to your wrist?

2. Tweed is very handsome

Sean Connery in Indiana Jones; Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes; the cast of Downton Abbey: need we say more? Tweed is very known as a symbol of the well-heeled—Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel herself first fell in love with the fabric when she began borrowing the tweed jackets of her royal lover, the 2nd Duke of Westminster.

3. Tweed is known for its durability

Favoured for outdoor activities such as hunting and shooting, tweed was built to withstand harsh climates. Though tweed is only an imprint on the band of the watch, the stainless steel strap is a toughie-making it perfect for everyday wear. The watch is also water resistant to 30m so you needn’t worry about going for a romantic moonlight swim with your Boy.Friend.
