Givenchy keeps it in the (fashion) family

Fashion is a competitive industry. Brands fight to predict a consumer’s needs and wants and though this makes for a wonderful array of options (for us customers), a designer’s job is an uphill battle to be at the top of their game. But the one thing that designers will know better than most is the toil of constant reinvention and the mammoth task of producing different iterations of shoes, bags and clothes season after season, and what better way to bond than through shared struggle?  So when the doyenne of the house of Versace—the platinum blonde Donatella—fronts a major ad campaign for rival Givenchy, nothing short of fashion magic happens.

Donatella Versace for Givenchy

“I believe in breaking rules. Riccardo Tisci is extremely talented and above all my dear friend. We are family,” she explains on the unique situation. “I want to get rid of the old system, work together, support each other and make fashion a truly global community.” The entire concept was a fashion lover’s wet dream: shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot and styled by Carine Roitfeld, Givenchy’s A/W15 campaign brings a whole new level to #squadgoals.
