Givenchy Fall 2015: All things dark and beautiful

Septum rings and gem-glued faces don’t surprise us as much, as Riccardo Tisci’s work has never been doubted to be short of alluring drama and dark, gothic elements worthy of a grand Victorian-era play. But what caught our attention during the A/W 2015 show was the luxurious velvet dévoré fabric used in the dress for Look 1—the same, dark velvet material seen emblazoned on the iconic Givenchy Antigona released this season. Velvet has had a long fashion history with nobility, being the first pick of fabric for royalty be it for shoes or capes. If it isn’t obvious enough as it is already, the latest Antigona bag has set our hearts ablaze en route to regality with its sophisticated jacquard-like embroidery.
