Shoe designer Edgardo Osorio’s introduction to the world of luxury shoemaking was with Italian luxury fashion house, Salvatore Ferragamo, at the tender age of 19. Ten years on and Ferragamo has bestowed a great honour on the young designer (Osorio is the founder and creative director of Aquazurra) with the introduction of the “Edgardo Osorio for Salvatore Ferragamo” capsule collection—the first time the house has ever collaborated with another designer using their name.
“This collection is the perfect, modern twist on the true spirit of Salvatore Ferragamo: irony and playfulness, attention to detail, creativity with a touch of eccentricity combined with the ultimate in comfort and luxury,” says Massimiliano Giornetti, creative director of Ferragamo. The collection has been inspired by classics from Ferragamo’s own archives: the rainbow wedge, the polka dot shoe and the wing shoe have all been referenced by Osorio, but with an unexpected play with materials such as patent, suede, nappa, cork, stones and feathers.
