Dressed up Fridays: Cutting it close with culottes

We can’t help but to love how culottes has been trending as of late. Versatile and functional, a good pair of culottes can take you far, especially if you’re a stickler for comfort. Fun fact: Did you know that culottes have been worn by aristocratic gentlemen in the 1500s? Sport this luxe pair of trousers while sticking to the festive theme this Friday:

Red is a staple colour you’d find in the closet of every person celebrating Lunar New Year. Pile on the prosperity vibes in this Tibi stretch-faille peplum tunic. The ruffled hem is a great way to add structure to your culottes. And that shade of scarlet is bound to get you in your grandma’s good books (and angpau list).

Our favourite culottes of the moment is this pair of nude cropped trousers from Brunello Cucinelli. The wide legged silhouette and lovely spring worthy hue cements its status as a classic must-have staple in your closet.

Go with a rather ladylike purse to complement your outfit. Proenza Schouler Courier bag in multicoloured tweed is a punchy way to make a statement. It comes with a silver and gold-tone chain shoulder strap for you to adjust the drop accordingly. And how cute is the (really pint) size of this purse?

A set of crimson nails might be overkill with your outfit, so paint your talons with Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Ballerina. The newly-renovated formula contains bioceramides of natural origin to give your nails a hard, resistant film, and we can’t resist that lovely shade of pink.

Add a dash of bling to your OOTD with this brass Balenciaga cuff in the shape of a bow. Its timeless shape is actually modeled on a collection of brooches designed by Cristóbal Balenciaga in the 1960s.

The only exception we’re allowing with matching-colour accessories in your outfit, is if it’s in a form of a chic pair of sandals. Tabitha Simmons suede heel sandals are just what you need to add a slight bit of height to your stature while staying comfy at the same time.
