6 Stylish royals you need to know

One mention of ‘princesses’ and long, beautiful gowns and glistening tiaras naturally come to mind, but lately, more focus has been directed towards the royals’ less formal looks. Case in point: The Kate Middleton effect. The Duchess of Cambridge’s ability to mix high-end and high-street labels has always garnered a lot of attention, and as a result, pieces that she’s been spotted in during her public appearances have helped many brands see a boost in their sales and exposure. This round, we’re shining the spotlight on other royals from around the world who have also caught our eye with their on and off-duty style.

Princess Charlene of Monaco

As the wife of Prince Rainier II—the reigning monarch of Monaco, South African Princess Charlene is known for her tall and statuesque figure, but that’s not it. Her daring fashion choices have also made headlines—in a good way. Not one to shy away from notice-me ensembles, she turned up at the 69th Monaco Red Cross Ball Gala in a custom Armani Privé jumpsuit, complete with gunmetal embellishment that made her the centre of the attention.

Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana of Thailand

As the only daughter of King Rama X and Sujarinee Vivacharawongse of Thailand, HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana has always been interested in fashion. Having majored in fashion design at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, she went on to start her own label named Sirivannavari after graduating. When she’s not busy creating designs for her brand, expect to spot her front row during Fashion Week. Here are some of her eye-catching looks snapped post-shows.

Princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia

Princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz (who married Saudi Prince Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud) is not your typical princess. Previously the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Arabia, she now runs her own fashion business called D’NA, and is one of the most photographed street style stars during Fashion Week. We love how she tunes up the style ante of her covered-up looks by incorporating different silhouette, volume and colours.

Princess Olympia of Greece

The granddaughter of ex-King Constantine of Greece may only be 22-year-old, but her front row appearances—from Valentino to Dior and Michael Kors—prove that she’s the one to watch. Confessing her love for luxury brands, while she tends to steer towards more refined pieces with her signature winged eyeliner and top knot, you can count on her to turn up in a leopard-print dress, and look chic in it too. With 133k followers on Instagram, she’s definitely an It-girl in the making.

Princess Elizabeth Von Thurd Und Taxis of Germany

Aside from being one of the member of the former German princely, Princess Elizabeth von Thurn und Taxis is also a journalist, and has been Vogue’s Style Editor-At-Large since 2012. Her wardrobe consisting of contrasting textures, styles and colours definitely piques our interest, giving the modern-day princess look that eclectic twist.

Queen Letizia of Spain

Spain’s Queen Letizia’s regal dressing is the epitome of polished and chic. Aside from her favourite brands such as Hugo Boss and Carolina Herrera, the royal has also been spotted in pieces from Spanish high-street brands such as Zara and Mango during her public appearances. Her head-to-toe red outfit (in look 3) is monochrome done right.
