Wishlist worthy: A look at Dior’s must-have accessories for Autumn/Winter 2017

For Autumn/Winter 2017, Artistic Director Maria Grazia Chiuri pays an homage to Mr. Christian Dior’s quote in The Little Dictionary of Fashion—“Among all the colours, navy blue is the only one which can ever compete with black, it has all the same qualities” with a collection that revolves around the colour, while breathing new life into the brand’s rich heritage. Aside from the clothes however, is the array of accessories that are equally eye-catching on its own. We’re zooming in on two of our favourite accessories from the collection—the new ‘Amour’ pumps, and the ‘Oblique’ bags which are a blast from the past.

Dior Amour pumps

A glance at the back of the seemingly plain pumps and you’ll notice the details that are bound to be a conversation starter. Maria Grazia Chiuri designed the pumps which are adorned with a red heart (which explains the name of the shoes) for her second ready-to-wear show—giving a nod to the embroideries on the fencing outfits of her debut collection last season. The curved heels are inspired by the “talon choc” in 1959—identified by its gentle curve.

Dior Oblique bags

Another one of the key pieces which was featured in Dior’s Autumn/Winter 2017 show? The Dior Oblique bags that are inspired from Dior’s archives. From crossbody to duffle bags, each of the carriers are in a navy blue monogram print (created by Head of Couturier, Marc Bohan in 1967), juxtaposed with a gold-tone hardware that gives the bags a modern update.
