The red balloons are actually part of a promotional campaign for the new horror film It, an adaptation of the Stephen King book of the same name. In the novel, It/Pennywise the Dancing Clown uses balloons to lure his victims to his sewer lair. Bill Skarsgård stars as the shape-shifting killer clown in the movie, which just hit cinemas today.
After watching It, King stated his stamp of approval: “I had hopes, but I was not prepared for how good it really was. It’s something that’s different, and at the same time, it’s something that audiences are gonna relate to. They’re gonna like the characters. If you like the characters, if you care, the scares generally work. I’m sure my fans will enjoy the movie.”
