St. Vincent to make her directorial debut with a horror film

Annie Clark, or better known as St. Vincent, revealed the news on her Instagram account yesterday, saying she is “so thrilled to be able to explore the genre.”

She is set to write and direct the horror film together with Roxanne Benjamin as part of XX (“four deadly tales by four killer women”), an anthology film that is composed of four shorts starring and directed entirely by women. Each director has been given full creative license to tell any story (in the horror genre) they choose revolving around the female lead. Although no details regarding the plot have been made known yet, Rolling Stone reported that Clark will be filming her portion of the film this spring.

Besides Clark, XX will feature segments from Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, Girlfight), Jennifer Lynch (Surveillance, episodes of The Walking Dead), and Jovanka Vuckovic (2013 short film The Guest). A release date for the film has yet to be announced. It will be released by Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures.
