Jared Leto to play Andy Warhol in upcoming biopic

Warhol will be based on the Victor Bockris’ (who has worked with Warhol in New York City) account of the artist’s life, Warhol: The Biography. Besides portraying Andy Warhol in the biopic, the actor will be co-producing the film with screenwriter Terence Winter – the latter created and produced Boardwalk Empire, and has worked on The Sopranos, The Wolf of Wall Street and Vinyl, to name a few.

Jared Leto’s repertoire of roles have been diverse, to say the least. From the juvenile drug addict in Requiem for a Dream to the maniacal Joker in Suicide Squad, which is one of the rarer occasions where his acting wasn’t that well-received, he is known to fully immerse himself in whatever character he plays. Love him or hate him, it will be interesting to see how he’ll take on the role of Andy Warhol.

The biopic’s filming timeline has yet to be announced. Leto is currently filming a Blade Runner sequel, which is set for release in October 2017.
