Delve into the history of Versace in the new book by Donatella Versace

“Fashion is part of pop culture, speaks the language of rock and is closely related to art and technology. It is thanks to clothing that contemporary icons create their unforgettable image”—this is probably one of many significant quotes by Donatella Versace you will find in Versace, which tells the highly intimate and visually titillating history of the brand under her creative direction.

After the tragic passing of Gianni Versace in 1997, Donatella stepped into her brother’s shoes and took over the artistic reins of Versace in 1997. As the curator and face of Versace, she continued her Gianni’s legacy of bold, eye-catching aesthetics for the brand, transitioning it into the 21st century seamlessly.

Written by Donatella Versace with Maria Luisa Frisa and Stefano Tonchi, Versace includes exclusive new and archival photography from the likes of Richard Avedon and Mario Testino, red carpet coverage of Hollywood favourites in Versace couture (remember J.Lo’s green dress from the Grammys in 2000?), runway and backstage moments, intimate scenes at the Versace Atelier, as well as images of original supers such as Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista, whom graced some of Versace’s most memorable ads from the ’90s.
