Anne Rice to turn ‘Vampire Chronicles’ books to TV series

Anne Rice has a plan for her much beloved Vampire Chronicles book series. In a lengthy Facebook post, she announced, “The theatrical rights to the Vampire Chronicles are once again in my hands, free and clear! I could not be more excited about this – a television series of the highest quality is now my dream for Lestat, Louis, Armand, Marius and the entire tribe.”

Despite the success of the Interview with the Vampire movie in 1994, fans had been left wanting more as none of the adaptations since had lived up to expectation. Perhaps, up till now that is.

With Anne Rice back at the helm together with her son Christopher Rice who will be serving as executive producer, the TV project looks to be underway. It will likely to begin with The Vampire Lestat, the second book of the series.

“Over the years, you all have told me how much you want to see a Game of Thrones style faithful rendering of this material, and how much you want for the series to remain in my control. Well, I have heard you. I have always heard you. What you want is what I want.”

The author also has some names in mind to play the vampires including Matt Bomer and Matthew MacFayden. The potential list will be finalised as the pilot script comes along. No dates yet as to when Vampire Chronicles will debut on TV but we’re sure it’s not too far away.
