2017 Emmy Awards: The nominees are in
The best of television will be chosen at the 69th annual Primetime Emmy Awards and these are the contenders

This year is going to be interesting. The category of best drama is up for grabs, this year, or so to speak. Having nabbed the award two years running and with its last season packed with potential award-winning material, Game of Thrones would have been a top contender for the 2017 Emmy. But due to a later start date, HBO's heavy hitter is out of the race this year. And this leaves room for a real shake-up.

Nominated for best drama are a catalogue of freshmen—"Stranger Things", "This is Us", "The Crown", "The Handmaid's Tale", and "Westworld"—alongside "House of Cards" and "Better Call Saul" who have previously been included in the category. "Westworld" ties with "Saturday Night Live" for most nominations at 22 each while HBO proves their strength by beating out all other networks with 110 nominations despite the ineligibility of their star programme.
