Linkin Park’s greatest hits: In memory of Chester Bennington

It was news no Linkin Park fans would want to hear, especially first thing in the morning—but sadly, frontman Chester Bennington has left the world behind him. The band released their newest music video (‘Talking to Myself’) just hours before the devastating news broke. Tragically, the rock star’s apparent suicide occurred on the day of his late friend Chris Cornell‘s birthday.

Arguably one of the most influential progressive rock music bands of our generation, Linkin Park built their identity around a sound that blends hip-hop and metal, with Bennington’s incredible, raw voice of angst at its emotional core. It was the sound that accompanied listeners the world over at some point in their lives, whether it be high school, or some personal dark times. “Chester… You and the guys all influenced an entire generation. You went so hard and set so many kids free of their environments and situations. The last time I saw you, you gave us chills. Your essence is amongst the stars. Rest now,” Pharrell writes in a tribute to Bennington.

Here, we remember Chester Bennington with Linkin Park’s best work. Rest in peace, Chester.
