Parlez-vous anglais?

Do you speak English?

 

Où est le métro?

Where is the subway?

 

Combien ça coûte?

How much does it cost?

 

Comment est-ce que je vais le Louvre?

How do I get to the Louvre?

 

Où sont les toilettes?

Where is the bathroom?

 

Avez-vous une table pour deux?

Do you have a table for two?

 

Qu’est-ce que la recommandation du chef?

What is the chef’s recommendation?

 

L’addition, s’il vous plaît

The bill, please.

 

In addition to the above phrases, you should always start a conversation with bonjour (hello) and slip in s’il vous plaît (please) and merci beaucoup (thank you very much) where necessary—being polite will certainly help put you in the French’s, or anyone’s really, good graces.
