If buildings can talk, they would have a rich story to tell. From palaces of the forgotten era to the skyscrapers of the new world, each structure stands with a poetic significance. Hence, architectural photography can convey some of its finest moments – curves, edges, quirks and all, as presented at ‘Building Images’, which features winning entries from the 2016’s Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards.
The awards celebrates the importance of photography in the way we experience and connect with spaces. Divided into four categories, we get to view some of the most beautiful perspectives from artists who “translate the sophistication of architecture into a readable and understandable two dimensions, to explain and extol the character, detail and environment of the project.”
From exterior to interior, ‘Building Images’ encapsulates some of the most stunning architectural shots from specialist photographers. Last year’s winning entry (pictured above) at the awards is taken by British photographer, Matt Emmett featuring a brick reservoir in London’s Finsbury Park that was designed by the East London Waterworks Company in 1868. His image will be on display along with a selection of other shortlisted entries.
The ‘Building Images’ exhibition will open its doors at Sto Werkstatt in London from 10 February to 31 March 2017. A series of talks and seminars will also be held to understand the medium of photography in architecture. If you’re in town during this period, do drop by to check it out.
