Prada proves that crystal-studded eye makeup is here to stay

It’s time to whip out crystal studs and miniature rhinestones the next time you’re about to hit the town as sparkly eyes are the biggest makeup trend to hit the runways this season. Dries Van Noten first kickstarted this Kirakira-worthy beauty trend during Paris Fashion Week last season, but Prada officially solidified its status as a legit makeup trend this Autumn/Winter 2018. Models glided down the runway decked in industrial-leaning, power women getups (more deets here) but what we didn’t miss are the strong flicks in bold hues over their eyelids.

Envisioned by makeup artist Pat McGrath, the cat eye began in the middle of the upper eyelids and extended outwards to the corners of the eyes in an exaggerated flick, with wings that were smoked out subtlely — all in vibrant colours of blue, green, orange, pink and purple from her limited edition Subversive Mothership Eyeshadow Palette. Swarovski crystals were then adroitly placed on the upper eyelids for a stunning effect, while the lower lash lines were rimmed in the same hues for a dash of colour. Lastly, a swipe of mascara on the upper and lower lashes for a traffic-stopping impact. We suggest donning the same hairstyle sported by the models (a slicked-back, wet hairdo) in favour of showing off your gleaming gaze. Now you’re all ready to paint the town red — after a tonne of Kirakira snaps, that is.
