Blue hues: 3 Ways to pull off SS16’s biggest beauty trend

Blue eyeshadow is no longer deemed as a garish faux pas that could only bode well with bright red lipstick (think 90s-inspired looks with heavily-flushed cheeks in tow). Recently making a revival on the runways of SS16, blue-accented eyes can look ultra romantic and current when done right. Read: only if paired with a simple lip/cheek colour.

Here’s how you can achieve the cool, true blue look easily:

Blue Lines

3.1 Phillip Lim’s beauty look this season features all the mod, currently trending details: strong brows, fresh skin, and the quintessential blue-accented eyes.

Get this look: Use an angled eyeliner brush and line your upper and lower lash lines with NARS Eye Paint in Solomon Islands. A tip is to line your lash lines mid-point so that a subtle pop of blue is seen.

All Smoked Out

Pat McGrath went down the 70s route with Diane Von Furstenberg’s spirited, bouncy-curls and metallic teal-rimmed eyes.

Get this look: Rim both of your lash lines using the turquoise shade from Lancôme Colour Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Teal Fury. This can be done with a wet angled eyeliner brush for a smouldering look. Extend the colour up to the crease into a cat-eye silhouette and tightline your eyes with the blue shade from the palette, then finish off with plenty of mascara.

Graphic Chic

Val Garland of MAC Cosmetics delivered a bold, graphic statement at Monique Lhuillier SS16 with a dash of cyan thickly lined on the eyelids, giving the feminine designs an elevated, contemporary vibe.

Get this look: Use an eyeliner brush and apply MAC Cosmetics Chromaline in Hi-Def Cyan in a thick line on your eyelids, ending with a slight, winged effect at the outer corners of your  eyes.
