How to get effortless ‘lived-in’ hair spotted at Alexander Wang SS18

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018 is in full swing as we type, and in between the street-style worthy fash packs and daily highlights, don’t miss out on one the head-turning beauty trends spotted on the runway. Case in point: The models at Alexander Wang SS18 sported gritty yet effortless lived-in hair that’s inducing major hair envy for the rest of us.

Created by GHD in partnership with international session stylist Guido Palau, the messy hairdo was inspired by the natural texture and movement of hair (sans a limp effect.) While most assume that a messy finish is likely the outcome, Palau vouches for a chic, effortless hairdo—but with the right tools. “A great hair dryer minimises drying time and therefore limits damage to the hair while helping to achieve a beautiful, natural movement,” he says. “Great styling tools are essential for creating simple, modern textures.”

Get the look in four simple steps:

1. First, apply heat protectant spray on clean damp hair.

2. Use GHD’s Air Hair Dryer that comes equipped with a diffuser and gently blow-dry hair on a low heat setting. This helps to maintain and enhance your hair’s natural texture without damaging it.

3. Use your fingertips to create a natural centre parting.

4. After that, section your hair and use GHD’s Classic Curl Tong to create soft, natural waves. A tip is to bend hair in different directions for a chic, mussed-up look.
